At Concept Dog Training, I understand the unique environment of schools, because I come from one.
With over 15 years of professional dog training experience, nearly two decades as a qualified teacher and experience facilitating welllbeing dog programs in schools, I specialise in helping schools get the most from their school dogs while keeping staff, students and the dog safe and supported.

Why Work With Me?
Hi, I’m Drew, the founder of Concept Dog Training.
Alongside my dog training experience, I’m a fully qualified and currently registered teacher with nearly 20 years in the classroom. I’ve worked across mainstream, special education, and trauma-informed settings.
As a former Lead Facilitator/Coach and Dog Behaviour Specialist at Dogs Connect, I spent years helping schools integrate wellbeing dogs safely and meaningfully into their environments - from dog welfare, the role of the dog and whole-school planning to daily routines and behaviour support.
This unique blend of education, behaviour training and staff coaching gives me a deep understanding of how to support your team, your students and your dog.
Services Available
School Dog Safety & Welfare Audit
On site visit + written action plan with preparation, behaviour, welfare and safety recommendations.
Ideal for new or existing programs.
Student Workshops
Group/class sessions.
Topics include: how to interact safely, reading a dog’s body language, emotional regulation around dogs, and building respectful bonds.
Whole Staff PD: Working Safely with School Dogs
60–90 min workshop tailored to your setting. Includes dog body language, stress signs, role clarity, trauma-informed practice, and safety protocols.
Available in person or remote.
Term Support Package
2 visits per term, email/on-call support in between, tailored advice and resource recommendations. Great for schools building confidence or capacity.
1:1 Handler Coaching
Behaviour support, routine shaping, responding to challenges, self-care for handlers, and long-term sustainability strategies.
Available in person or remote.
Annual Support Package
6 visits per year, full PD session, and ongoing handler support. Best for schools seeking long-term sustainability, training continuity and professional guidance.
